Part time Remote Tech/Promotions Assistant

Job Description

GAR Broadcasting is seeking a part time Remote Broadcast Technician/Promotions Assistant to help in running station events, radio remotes, and live sporting events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Execute radio stations live broadcast and/or remotes
  • Trouble shooting on small sound systems/broadcast equipment (basic training provided)
  • Operate station vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain safe operation of vehicles, equipment and other promotional tools.
  • Execute radio station promotional activities.

Job Requirements:      

  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Remain calm and professional through stressful circumstances and adapt to different situations.
  • Able to lift and or move up to 50lbs

Good communication, writing, computer, and technical skills are required. Candidate must have a flexible schedule, be available to work some weekend and evening hours. Some heavy lifting may be required.

Experience & Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Previous work, volunteer or educational in events, marketing, promotions, customer service, sales and/or related field preferred.

Board Operator

Job Summary:

Provides programming and control board support to On-Air Talent.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates control board for studios and remote programming.
  • Regulates program timing, operates syndicated programming, and plays commercials.
  • Monitors the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming from master control room.
  • Supports off-air commercial production, dubbing music to hard disk and programming automation computers.
  • Protects station’s license by censoring live programs and deleting words/phrases not permitted on air.
  • Executes playlists for server, tape, or simulcast programming.
  • Assists with adjusting signal and programming content to ensure transmission meets federally mandated broadcast standards.
  • Processes time-out programming for accurate play back.
  • Monitors and updates weather, traffic and news reports into automation equipment.
  • Checks studio equipment for proper functioning and notifies Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting quality of the broadcast.
  • Screens in-coming phone calls and selectively chooses callers for On-Air Talent and talk shows.
  • Handles emergency inserts (e.g. news updates, breaking stories, alert system tests, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Adobe Audition or similar audio editing software, Wide Orbit or similar automation system
  • Time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Flexibility in work schedule, including evenings, overnight and weekends
  • Functions well in a fast-paced environment with tight timeframes and multiple demands
  • Works well in a team environment

Work Experience:

  • 6 months in a related role and/or technical training

Education:

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.

Austin Radio Network (98.5/99.3FM KOKE-FM; 105.3FM THE BAT; 104.9FM The Horn) is looking for a sales executive.   Austin Radio Network is a growing group of radio stations owned and operated in Austin Texas.   We offer an opportunity to earn a big income in a fun environment growing client’s businesses through radio and digital marketing plans.   The job is 100% commissions but we will start off the salesperson we hire with billing accounts to get you started making money from day one.   The job requires a bold personality, a hunger to make money, a love for learning about businesses around Austin and a can-do attitude.    Outside sales experience is required.  A college education and media sales or advertising sales experience is preferred but not required.

 

The Austin Radio Network is looking for interns!

We are currently seeking Morning Show, Afternoon Show and Promotion interns. If you are interested in the radio business, this is a great place to build experience.

You will be responsible for preparing materials for the broadcast, updating the station website and social media accounts, editing and cutting the show podcast, doing other tasks as assigned by radio staff, and more!

This internship is unpaid, but can qualify for class credit. Recent graduates seeking experience are encouraged to apply.
